Topical applications of this herb include its use as distilled Witch Hazel (available in any drugstore) which is applied to bedsores, bruises, eczema, insect bites, poison ivy or oak and sunburn. This herb has also been used as an aftershave, and applied to blemishes & pimples. Native Americans used poultices of Witch Hazel leaves & bark to treat hemorrhoids, wounds, painful tumors, insect bites, and skin ulcers.
