Soybean (Glycine Soya) Protein, Oxido Reductases is a water-soluble active ingredient with excellent anti-irritant properties. This is due to a powerful twofold concept in which a synergistic mixture of natural oxido-reductases prepared by biotechnological processes and carefully isolated plant-based peptides exert a protection against damage due to environmental aggressors such as ozone (O3), UV radiation or detergents.

The oxido-reductases are capable of neutralizing oxygen free radicals and thus rendering them harmless. Glycine soya peptides, isolated by a special purification process, inhibit harmful proteinases. In combination, both processes ensure effective protection against irritation and accelerated skin aging.

Background

Skin aging results from two processes called endogenous (genetically-caused) and exogenous aging. While very little can be done to influence endogenous skin aging, it is possible to protect skin from exogenous aging, also called accelerated skin aging. Skin is increasingly exposed to harmful substances present in the air, e.g. ozone, pollution and smog, to increased UV radiation and to contact with household chemicals, e.g. laundry soap and disinfectants. Whereas protective measures against UV radiation (sunscreens) and household chemicals (gloves and protective emulsions) are well known, protection against atmospheric pollution, especially ozone, has not yet been tested. Ozone is one of the most aggressive atmospheric pollutants which can destroy the barrier function of skin by lipid peroxidation and thus trigger irritation reactions Soybean (Glycine Soya) Protein, Oxido Reductases is able to reduce skin damage due to ozone by simultaneously inactivating oxygen free radicals and inhibiting harmful proteinases. It thereby acts as a protective shield and combats accelerated skin aging.
