1-Methylhydantoine-2 Imide is a natural amino acid derivative. It belongs to the class of guanidine compounds which are ubiquitous in mammaliar cells and known to have an important biological function as they regulate eg. Cellular growth and transformation.
1-Methylhydantoine-2 Imide helps to maintain a desirable pH mantle on the skin, and has been demonstrated to inhibit tyrosinase activity in the melanocytes. It can be used in applications such as the skin brightening products and fade creams to improve clarity and eveness of skin tone.
In vitro study - the efficacy of 1-Methylhydantoine-2 Imide was observed. It was found that 1.5% 1-Methylhydantoine-2 Imide would suppress tyrosinase activity by 30%
